Scouts - Friday Night

After several weeks of training the scouts in knots and lashings, I set the patrols an interesting challenge. From the roof of the hall, I hung eggs using about a metre of string. The challenge to the patrols: build a structure that will catch the egg when the string is cut.

The rules - The string will be cut in 30 minutes; chairs may be used, but all four legs of the chair must be on the ground; the structure may not come within 30 cm of the egg.

The 3 patrols took very different approaches to the exercise and some of the "constructions" were not exactly textbook. But when the strings were cut, all 3 eggs survived their falls.
